A quilter understands the value of preserving the past! Have you ever wanted to learn how to quilt or learn more about some of the quilts you own? If so, join us for our Sew On and Sew Forth Quilting program!
From 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The Appalachia Quilters Guild, a long-standing community organization that strive to preserve the art of quilting across generations, will be on premises and will be demonstrating the art of quilting. They will have a quilting frame set up and participants can try their hand at learning to quilt.
From 2-3 p.m. Do you have a quilt that you're not sure of the pattern, age, or how to properly store it? Join Historic Preservation Specialist Burke Greear and local quilter and artisan Suzanne Adams. Both will be on hand to help with identifying the different patterns of quilts as well as how to properly fold and store them.
There is no charge to attend the Sew On and Sew Forth Quilting program, however, regular admission rates apply for those wishing to tour the museum. $5 adults, $3 children ages 6-12, under 6 free.
