Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Spring has sprung, and there is no better place to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather than at Smith Mountain Lake State Park. Gear up for the Easter Bunny with an afternoon of "hopping" good fun. Bring your own basket and hop on down to the Discovery Center for an Easter egg hunt. There will be over 1,500 eggs to find. Drop off your empty plastic eggs for recycling. If you find one of the "golden" eggs, bring it to the interpreter to receive a special prize. Enjoy hands-on crafts, hay wagon rides, and a whole lot more.

Easter Egg Hunt begins promptly at 1:15 p.m.
Fun Crafts and games 1:30 - 3 p.m.
Hay Wagon Rides 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.
