Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Virginia State Parks History and Culture Day at First Landing

In celebration of Virginia State Parks History and Culture Day, First Landing State Park will offer several programs to illuminate the significance of the Indigenous peoples, European colonists, and Civilian Conservation Corps in relation to the park.

10 am - 11 am: Join us for a history hike on Bald Cypress Trail, covering Indigenous history, pirates, the English colonists, and more! Meet at the Trail Center.

2 pm - 3 pm: Stop by our Native American replica artifact touch table to learn about the people who first lived here. Meet at Trail Center Picnic Tables.
