Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

National Trails Day at First Landing

June 3, 2023. 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

First Landing will be celebrating National Trails Day by offering guided hikes in each of our distinct park ecosystems. Hikes will take place starting at 9am at the Narrows, followed by a Chesapeake Bay beach walk at 12pm and ending with a 2pm hike on our Bald Cypress Trail. Attend one, or join us for all three!

National Trails Day is a national event created by by the American Hiking Society to encourage people to hit the trails and explore the outdoors.

Meeting places for guided hikes: 

-9:00am at The Narrows at 64th Street

-12:00pm at the Chesapeake Bay Main Boardwalk

-2:00pm at the Trail Center
