Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Chippokes State Park is partnering with the local 7th Virginia Regiment of the Continental Line to host a special two-day event consisting of three total tactical reenactments and demonstrations.

The event will offer a glimpse into the battles, actions, and camp life experienced by many a man who fought as a soldier during this time in history.  Soldiers will portray both the British and American Armies as they progressed on the road in the 18th Century. Two battles will occur on Saturday and one battle will occur on Sunday.

Food vendors will be on-site. The Farm and Forestry Museum will be open for self-guided tours.  There will be historical tours of the Jones - Stewart Mansion. The Jones - Stewart Brick Kitchen will be open with live hearth cooking demonstrations on Saturday and interpretation on Sunday.

Immerse yourself in history at Chippokes State Park.
