Shirt Tail Men: Virginia's Backwoods Riflemen
Where
Wilderness Road State Park, 8051 Wilderness Rd., Ewing, VA 24248.
Historic Martin's Station
When
June 11, 2023. 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Named after the fringed hunting shirts they wore, these backwoods sharpshooters were both respected and feared. Rifle companies turned the tide of many battles and eventually assisted in the defeat of the British army at Yorktown. Many of these men came from the western frontier and called forts such as Martin’s Station home. We invite you to join us as Captain Martin musters his men and holds true to the monthly gatherings common at the start of the American Revolution.
