When

Feb. 17, 2023. 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

We welcome you to meet and spend time with one of our most ssspecial ambassador animals, Maizey, the Corn Snake.

Snakes have developed quite the villainous role in human history and literature due to their scales, slithering, venom, diversity across the species, fangs, natural unnaturalness, etc. Maizey would like to give you the chance to face your fears of snakes and give her a pet.

Learn how snakes are incredible hardworking neighbors, the diversity we see in Virginia, and how they maintain balance in the Food Web. Participants will also be able to make a fun snake-friend craft to take home as a reminder to learn even more about snakes!

Maizey the Corn Snake, curled up, cute, and content in her room. Bright and fresh red and orange scales from a shed.
