People have been fascinated by the night sky for thousands of years. This has led us to create stories about the constellations and make amazing discoveries about our universe. The Richmond Astronomical Society and Rappahannock Astronomical Society will offer a "mini star party" with telescopes and a presentation so you can get an up-close view of planets, and galaxies and explain what they are made of and how they got their name. If you have your own binoculars or telescopes, bring them along and learn how to use them properly to get the most out of your dark sky experience. Don't miss out on one of our best astronomy programs at James River State Park! Bring some comfortable chairs.
