Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Join astronomers from the Richmond Astronomical Society for Saturday Under the Stars. Roam around to take a look through their telescopes and chat with astronomers about the stars, constellations, and planets visible in the night sky. Telescopes will be set up adjacent to the parking area, but please feel free to bring your own telescope or binoculars to get assistance from experienced astronomers.

When entering or leaving the parking lot area, please try to use minimal lighting and use flashlights with red or amber-colored light in order to preserve the night vision of our visitors. If you don't have a red flashlight, our astronomers will give you a red filter for your light. Visitors are welcome to bring comfortable chairs or blankets to lean back and enjoy an expansive view of the sky.
