Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

With 400 years of history, there are thousands of stories that the land of Chippokes has to offer. View Quarter Lane in the same light as those who have lived here in the past.
Join a ranger to walk through history, from the mid-1820s through the 1920s, and discover what the existing buildings tell us about the people who lived, worked, and died here at Chippokes.
Plantation owners, enslaved peoples, sharecroppers, and tenant farmers all occupies the many buildings between the River House and the Historic Jones-Stewart Mansion. Meet at the Farm and Forestry Museum Parking Lot. Walk is approximately 0.5 miles.
