Holiday wreaths are beautiful, diverse, extravagant or quaint, and often handmade classic decorations that have come to represent that good old holiday cheer and spirit. Gathering and harvesting of evergreens for the home during the winter was a practice first recorded in the 16th century amongst northern and eastern Europeans. Evergreens were a species that most looked at in awe and wonder as it was resilient to winter and became a symbol of resilience, power, and hope.

This special event allows for you to try your hand at wreath making, using all-natural materials, just as 18th century colonists in the region would have done during their time. Discover the best tips and tricks for creating your very own unique wreath.  All are welcome, whether you classify as a beginner, amateur, or skilled wreath maker. Meet at the Jones-Stewart Mansion Brick Kitchen. Help support the Friends of Chippokes with a suggested donation of $5 per wreath. Coffee, hot chocolate, and cookies will be served.

Wreath Decorations, evergreen, pinecones, and ribbons.
