Calling all tree allies! Join Plant NOVA Trees and Merrimac Farm VA Master Naturalists Saturday, Sept
24 th at Leesylvania State Park to learn about the Tree Rescuer Program and get hands on experience
identifying and removing invasive vines to protect our trees. 

Order and Breakdown of the Program:
8:00-8:10: Welcome arrivals outdoors at the visitor’s center and have samples/material out to view.
8:10-8:40: Overview of Tree Rescuers Program; purpose and why vines are important
Overview of Vine ID; focusing primarily on vines that we’ll will be working with.
8:40-9:00: Walk to designated site discussing vines along the way
9:00-10:00: Removal of vines at designated site, experienced volunteers helping out new volunteers as
needed.

Please come prepared to walk over uneven terrain and through briars and other vegetation.  We
recommend wearing sturdy shoes, long pants and long sleeves and bringing hand pruners, loppers,
gloves, and water.
