Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Enjoy a stargazing canoe adventure at Leesylvania State Park!  As the sun sets we'll travel approximately a kilometer upstream on Powell's Creek, raft up, and proceed to observe the evening sky as it comes into view.  We'll discuss the constellations and other celestial bodies, identification techniques and some of the ancient myths and lore associated with these heavenly objects.  No paddling experience is required; all participants must be of 6 years or older. Spots are limited so make your reservation today and call the Visitor Center at (703)583-6904.  Fee is due at time of reservation.  Please arrive 15 minutes prior to event start time.  Don't forget appropriate clothing, footwear, sunglasses, sunscreen, and water.
