A rotten log can host an entire mini ecosystem. We don't think much about them, but decaying trees are still hard at work enriching our environment.

Join an interpreter to read a short story about the life of a rotten log and the animals that rely on them. Then we'll take a look around to see if we can find the organisms living on the decaying logs around the Raider's Run trail head.

Wear clothes and shoes you don't mind getting dirty.
