The Civilian Conservation Corps, or the CCC, is responsible for building the original six state parks in Virginia, including Hungry Mother.
Pick up this self guided activity booklet at the Discovery Center or print off your own to guide. It will take you on an adventure around the park using geocache coordinates. Along your adventure, you'll discover how the park was created and have a chance to bring your own tools home. If you find all ten tools, stop back at the Discovery Center and pick up a special CCC patch.
Hungry Mother is filled with history and what better time to explore that history than in the present.
