Explore animal tracks and signs, get ‘buggy’ with insects, splash through a creek looking for critters, and get up close and personal with some of our reptile friends.

Jr. Ranger Camp is open to children who are ages 7 - 12 years old as of June 27, 2022. Camp runs Monday, June 27 through Thursday, June 30, from 1:30-4:00 p.m. each day. Children who complete the full camp (8 hours of programming) will graduate as a Jr. Ranger and receive a certificate and Jr. Ranger badge. Graduation is Thursday, June 30 from 4:00 - 4:30 p.m.

Pre-registration is required. Registration opens June 7, 2022 and closes on June 20, 2022. Request a registration form by emailing to jeanette.lawler@dcr.virginia.gov, or you may call 540-297-5998 for more information. Space is limited to 12 participants. Registrations need to be returned prior to the start of the camp. You will be notified with more details when the registration is confirmed.

This Jr. Ranger Camp is being offered, free of charge to participants, thanks to the generous support of the Friends of Smith Mountain Lake State Park.
