Buckingham County has a rich history of gold mining, and there may be flecks of gold in our waterways just waiting to be found. Pan for gold in the James River while learning about Virginia’s unique geology, the rocks, and minerals of the park, and the magnetic sand on the banks of the river. This program is free, but you must sign up in advance at the visitor center. Wear closed-toed shoes and be prepared to get wet.  This program is only suitable for participants ages 12 and over.
