Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Evenings are a wonderful time in the park to be on the water. This year we are offering a family oriented late-day paddle on the water that is sure to be a wonderful adventure for everyone involved. Alongside a certified paddle guide, you will paddle along Belmont Bay and enter a pristine marsh environment known as Kane's Creek. There you may encounter secretive wildlife such as beaver, turtles, fox, heron, and even our nation's symbol, the Bald Eagle!

While these are family friendly adventures please note: Children 5 and under are NOT permitted in boats. Children 6-12 must be in a tandem kayak or canoe with a parent or legal guardian. Children 13-17 may paddle alone in a boat but must be supervised by a parent or legal guardian on the same tour. No more than three people can be in a canoe, one of which must be a small child.

Please arrive 15 minutes before paddle start time to get fitted with PFDs and receive basic paddling instructions. Clothing may get wet. Water and sunscreen are encouraged.

Reservations are required and can be made by calling 703-339-2385 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Payment is due at the time of registration. We accept cash, personal check, Visa, Master Card and Discover.
