Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

National Trails Day

What's blooming and buzzing in your neighborhood? For National Trails Day the park will offer an interpretive walk on the Big Stone Gap Greenbelt Trail along the beautiful Powell River identifying blooming wildflowers and insects that make their homes along the trail.

Admission is free. Participants must register before Saturday, May 27.  To register, or for more information, please call the park at 276-523-1322.

The park will comply with the state Covid 19 regulations in place at the time the program is offered.
