Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Share the enjoyment of fishing at Staunton River's National Kids to Parks Day - Learn to Fish Event. Spend the morning learning techniques from park rangers. We'll will provide the rods, tackle and bait for this catch and release event. You'll learn to be a good fisherman, cast and tie knots. Catch fish and have fun! This program is limited to 12 participants and registration is required. Call the office at (434) 572-4623 to register.

We'll meet at the visitor center and then drive to the Edmund's Lake site.
