Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

June 4, 2022. 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Meet Chesapeake Bay Foundation representative Matt Kowalski, to hear about the health of the Bay before heading out to do your part to help take care of it. Meet at the Lupton Access picnic shelter for a brief discussion and to grab some gloves and trash bags. We will pick up trash along the banks of the river before reconvening back at the shelter to discuss what was picked up. Prizes will be given for the most trash collected. Registration is limited. **Throughout the program, all program participants including park staff, volunteers, and park visitors will be asked to maintain appropriate social distancing of at least 6 feet. Face coverings are requested for all visitors in all facilities and outdoors when physical distancing is not possible.
