Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

National Trails Day 5K Race

High Bridge Trail State Park is hosting an annual 5K run in celebration of National Trails Day.

The race follows an out-and-back course. Awards will be presented to the top three overall male and female finishers and top three male and female finishers in each age category. The top overall male and female finishers will each receive a free weekend cabin stay in a Virginia State Park. Categories are: Men and Women 10 and under, 11-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Participation is capped at 200 runners.

Registration by April 30 is $25. From May 1 through May 31, the fee is $35. Registration on the day of the race will be $40. Pre-race packet pickup will be at the Virginia's Heartland Regional Visitor Center on Friday, May 31 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., located at 121 E. Third Street, Farmville, VA 23901.
