When

Jan. 1, 2023. 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Do you have a bad case of "cabin fever"? We'll help you get outside and start the new year off right. Explore our trails. Hike on your own or join one of our ranger-guided hikes:

Beaver Den/Opossum Trot Trails - this hike is approximately 1 mile and is rated as easy. The ranger will lead you on a scavenger hunt to discover winter's hidden secrets in nature. After the hike, please join us at the Discovery Center for hot cocoa and treats.

Turtle Island Trail -  this hike is approximately 1.4 miles and is rated as moderate. You will be able to get great views of the lake as the ranger leads you onto Turtle Island. After the hike, please join us at the Discovery Center for hot cocoa and treats.

Please meet the rangers at the Visitor Center and let them know which hike you'd like to attend. Each ranger will then lead you to the starting point of the hike you choose. Parking at the trail heads is limited, so please carpool if possible.

In order to keep everyone safe, we ask guests to adhere to all current Covid-19 restrictions. Please bring a mask to be worn if unable to social distance from hikers outside of your family group.

This is a sun or snow event - dress for weather, wear proper footwear, and bring water. Optional: hiking staff, binoculars, and camera. Well-behaved dogs are welcome and must be leashed at all times. Trails are not appropriate for strollers. To encourage everyone to get out to the park, parking fees are waived for the day. For more information, call 540-297-6066.
