Yes, Virginia, holidays still have meaning and a spirit, and that winter holiday spirit can be found at the park's 8th annual drive-through light show. The route will lead visitors from the park entrance, down to the lake and back through Chestnut and Black Oak campgrounds. The entire route will be decorated, with many new displays this year. All proceeds from the event benefit the Cumberland Christmas Mother.
Organized by the Friends of Bear Creek Lake State Park, and set up with the help of many volunteers, the Lights at the Lake event is more than a community happening; it’s become a regional adventure to enjoy while brightening the hearts of so many who too often go without. Admission to the event is the donation of a new, unwrapped toy, or a monetary donation to the Cumberland Christmas Mother. Additional activities include a s'mores roasting campfire, take-away grilled chicken dinner, a handmade quilt raffle and more!
