For two days earlier this month, the staff of New River Trail State Park worked with 11 college students from Holy Cross University in Worcester, Massachusetts.
The end result was a two and half mile trail clean-up on the portion of the New River Trail that runs through the Town of Fries, VA.

This partnership between New River Trail and the Town of Fries has been going strong for the last three years. The Alternative Spring Break groups travel to Fries, VA to work on projects throughout the town. Thankfully, the town is willing to share this group with the park to accomplish projects on the trail as well.
Jimmy Elliott, Assistant Park Manager, stated “We greatly appreciate the Town of Fries willingness to share the students with the park.”
