Top Three Tours Offered from False Cape State Park
The weather is warming up and the days are getting longer which means that everyone will have more time to explore outside.
False Cape State Park has a wide variety of things to do in the abundant sunlight. So here are my top 3 tours to do this summer which provide perfect opportunities to get outside and enjoy some of the great experiences that False Cape has to offer.
1. BLUE GOOSE EXPRESS WILDLIFE TRAM TOUR
Blue Goose Express gives easy park access to park visitors
The Blue Goose Express is a tram tour that provides visitors with easy access to False Cape State Park. On this tour visitors will be able to enjoy a scenic wildlife observation and land conservation interpretive trip. So, if you want to see wildlife with your own two eyes, this is perfect for you. The tram departs and returns to Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge parking lot.
This trip does include a self-paced one mile hike to historic Wash Woods. The tram operates on Saturdays and Sundays from April to Memorial Day. Then it operates every day from Memorial Day to Labor Day. For more information and costs for this tour click here.
2. CAROVA WILD HORSE OFF-ROAD TOURS

TAKE A WALK ON THE WILD SIDE, ENJOY THIS SHORT VIDEO ABOUT FALSE CAPE STATE PARK
Enjoy exceptionally beautiful sunsets on a kayaking tour this summer
Third on our list is an adventurous kayaking tour. This program takes you back in time to the real Virginia Beach while allowing you to leisurely paddle along the beautiful Back Bay. Toward the end of the program you will be able to watch the sun drop below the horizon line as you float on top of the water in your kayak.
This tour is not just a tour, but also a relaxing recreational experience that you won’t want to miss. For more information and costs for this tour click here.
BONUSTake a ride on the beach transporter the Terra Gator. Head down the beach from the National Wildlife Refuge, and once in False Cape State Park, visitors can spend two hours exploring trails and the natural beach. This unique park - among Virginia's least visited state park - is primitive and has few facilities. It is not recommended for those unaccustomed to strenuous outdoor activities. Soft sand on the trail and beach makes walking difficult.
Schedule - By Reservation Only
The Terra Gator operates only on weekends from November 1 through March 31. The transporter departs Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Virginia Beach at 9:00 a.m. and returns there at 1:00 p.m. This trip takes about 45 minutes each way. Call 1-800-933-7275 (PARK) to make a reservation.
Groups may make arrangements for weekdays or other time slots, but still only between November 1 and March 31, by contacting the park directly at (757) 426-7128, email the park here.
