Think you’ve done it all? Think again
After a successful launch in 2017, Virginia State Parks and Appalachian Power are pleased to bring back our Adventure Series for 2018. Last year’s series was a wonderful success, so we decided to up our game and greatly expand the event.
For 2018 we’ve gone from 6 triathlons to 17 wildly different races over the course of 11 weekends. Races run the gamut from 5k runs and family adventure racing to a 65.2 mile adventure triathlon and include mountain bike and cyclocross races, 6 very different triathlons, Paris Roubaix style time-trial, cross country runs, kayak and canoe events and a host of other events.

HOW TO SCORE
Setting our series apart from the others is our scoring system, the wide range of events, and many possible ways to win. Instead of being based on time, the series is based on points assigned to each race according to difficulty and length. Time is only used as a tie breaker in the top five categories at the end of the year if necessary.
WE ARE OFFERING THREE WAYS TO WIN
GREAT PRIZES
Since we’d like everyone to enjoy the series at their own personal comfort level, we offer prizes ranging from an annual pass for completing 3 races or 3 race legs, a $100 gift certificate for completing 6 races, and multiple prizes for the top five finishers including packages from REI, gift certificates from VSP, and large cash prizes.
Unlike most such series, winning is based on mileage, not time
