Spring is Here and the Easter Bunny is Hot on our Trails!

Belle Isle State Park in Lancaster, Virginia and Chippokes State Park in Surry, Virginia have invited the Easter Bunny to stop by.

Here is the Easter Bunny's itinerary:

Belle Isle State Park where he will come hopping down the park's trails on Saturday, April 7 at 2 p.m. The annual Easter egg hunt will be held in the picnic area and is open to children, ages 1 to 12 years old. Sponsored by the Friends of Belle Isle State Park, the egg hunt is free, but regular parking fees do apply. Special prizes will be awarded!!  For more information, contact Belle Isle State Park at 804-462-5030. Don't forget your camera!!

The Easter Bunny hides eggs at Belle Isle State Park!

Chippokes State Park, the Easter Egg Hunt will take place in the formal gardens on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012 at 2 p.m., behind the Jones-Stewart mansion. Children, ages 2-12, are invited to hunt for eggs and join park staff playing historic children's games like hoops and graces.  Light refreshments will also be served. Come dressed in your Easter best because the flowers are blooming making the mansion, historic area, and formal gardens perfect for Easter and family photos. The Easter Egg Hunt is free, but there is a $4 per car parking fee. Contact the park at 757-294-3728 if you need more information.

Directions to Belle Isle State Park:

Lancaster County on the Rappahannock River. From Warsaw, take State Route 3 East to SR 354. Turn right and follow for three miles. Turn right onto SR 683 at Somers to the park entrance. From Kilmarnock, take Route 3 West to Lively, then left on SR 201 for three miles, then right on SR 354 for three miles and left onto 683 to the park entrance.

Drive Time: Northern Virginia: two hours; Richmond: two hours; Tidewater/Norfolk/Virginia Beach: two hours; Roanoke: five hours

Directions to Chippokes State Park:

Surry County. From I-95 and I-295, take Route 10 towards Hopewell. Follow Route 10 East for approximately 40 miles to Surry. Turn left at the intersection of routes 10 and 31 (this continues on Route 10). Turn right at the stop light. Turn left at Route 634 (Alliance Road), and the park entrance is four miles on the left.
