Sign Up for a Volunteer Vacation at Hungry Mother State Park
Are you looking to make a difference during your next visit to a Virginia State Park, but still want to enjoy your vacation time? American Hiking Society and Virginia State Parks have teamed up to provide you an amazing opportunity to connect with nature, meet people with like-minded interests, and have a memorable vacation all while working on a week-long trail building project.
Hungry Mother State Park is hosting a week long Volunteer Vacation in September (September 24-30, 2017) and we invite you to join in on the fun! Lodging in a historical bunkhouse, meals, tools, and team supervision are included in the registration fee - just bring your personal clothing. There will be plenty of free time to explore the 18 miles of trails within the park and volunteers can look forward to a bike ride on the Historical Virginia Creeper Trail or a day hike at Grayson Highlands State Park.
Never been hiking or done trail work before? We welcome you! This trip doesn't require any prior trail work experience, just a good attitude and a willingness to get a little dirty! American Hiking Society's Volunteer Vacation's program offers you one of the most affordable, fulfilling ways to explore and improve our nation's parks, while creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Get Out. Give Back.
