The Traveling Players Ensemble will portray the characters of one of Shakespeare’s favorites among audiences and theater at the Heritage Amphitheater at Pocahontas State Park on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. and admission is FREE.

As You Like It, (1599-1600), is a comedy on how we find true love in nature. The main heroine, Rosalind flees persecution only to find love in the Forest of Arden. The play features one of Shakespeare's most famous speeches, "All the world’s a stage.”

Traveling Players Ensemble strives to link theatrical work to nature by rehearsing and performing outdoors.

The Ensemble is a nonprofit professional theatre company. Their mission is to bring theatre into the great outdoors. In achieving this mission, they are guided by several beliefs an appreciation of nature. They strive to link theatrical work to nature by rehearsing and performing outdoors and by producing plays in which nature is a dominant theme; an ensemble is an ideal structure in which to foster creativity and a sense of community. Their educational programs work intensively with small ensembles, thereby ensuring personalized attention and significant growth as an artist; artistic creation is fundamental to forming one's identity, especially for teens in their unique and complex transition between childhood and adulthood.

This performance is sponsored by Friends of Pocahontas State Park and will start at 7:30 p.m. Admission is FREE. Great for audiences of all ages. Pocahontas State Park is located in Chesterfield County, about 20 miles from Richmond. It's easily accessible from Interstate 95, Route 288 and Route 360.

Drive Time: Northern Virginia, two hours; Richmond, half an hour; Tidewater/Norfolk/Virginia Beach, two hours; Roanoke, three hours.
