If you are looking for great outdoor adventure and recreation this summer then a weekend at Twin Lakes State Park might just be what you’re looking for!

An adventure awaits you at Twin Lakes State Park, Virginia

Let's Go Fishing

Not only does our park’s location offer access to some of the best fishing opportunities in Central Virginia, it also allows our guests the perfect opportunity to explore central Virginia by air, by bike, and by stream.

While it is true that we offer hiking, biking, swimming, and lake boating opportunities at Twin Lakes State Park, it’s our surrounding area that really allows you to enjoy the best of all recreational worlds.

3-Hour Session in the Oaks

Just a few minutes down the road are our friends at The Adventure Park At Sandy River Retreat, Central Virginia’s largest aerial adventure park. Featuring over 60 obstacles and 17 zip lines, this safe, challenging treetop rope course takes excitement to new heights.

Bike it or Hike it

Another great thing about our location at Twin Lakes State Park is our proximity to High Bridge Trail State Park. A main attraction of the local area, this 31-mile long rails-to-trails product is a landmark to be experienced. If our visitors are interested in riding the trail (but forgot to bring their bikes), they should visit The Outdoor Adventure Store in downtown Farmville. In addition to being a camping outfitter and the place for bike repairs, the store also provides bike rentals to the general public for use on the trail. They have a wide selection of bikes to choose from (from cruiser to mountain to even motorized bikes) at reasonable rates (from an hour trip to the bridge and back to a full day, 62-mile grand tour of the trail). You can visit the store and make bike reservations here

What-SUP

Stand Up Paddle Boards (SUP) are available to rent at Twin Lakes State Park as well as canoes, kayaks, row boats and even paddle boats.

More to Explore

Yet sometimes our visitors desire to branch out or they crave even more water to paddle around in.  The nearby Sandy River Outdoor Adventures has them covered. With a canoe or kayak rental, visitors can enjoy a nice day on the Sandy River Reservoir. With 700 acres of fully stocked waters, the reservoir is the recreational paddler’s (and angler’s) dream come true.

And as if that weren’t enough, they also offer a relaxing river float by kayak that takes paddlers on a nice two-hour trip from Buffalo Creek to the Appomattox River near downtown Farmville. You can find out more information and make reservations here.

heather (February 23, 2017 01:57:52 PM): Can you bring your own kayaks to Twin Lakes or do you have to rent one of the parks kayaks/canoes?

Virginia State Parks (March 29, 2016 11:16:36 PM): You need to take one if our guided kayak programs. These include training for beginners at the start of the program and someone on the trip to help. We also rent kayaks but you need to take the guided program to get the training you want.

Jean Lua (March 29, 2016 05:04:47 PM): Hello - I'm interested in kayaking but have never done it before. Do you have instructors?
