We're excited about a new program being offered for the first time at James River State Park now through July 2018 called Wingina Wednesdays.

The James River is not only the namesake of the park or a source of recreation, but it is rich in history and culture of the region.

Canoe Livery at James River State Park - check out our new program held every Wednesday through July!

The Canoe Livery at James River State Park

From transportation to meeting everyday family needs, this river has played in a vital role in the livelihood of the people living around the river for centuries.

The staff is eager to share that beauty and history with its guests so are offering a guided canoe trip along a stretch of river that many folks have not explored on their own.

This canoe trip will be offered every Wednesday through July between 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. The trip will leave from the park’s Canoe Livery and will float from the park to the public landing at Wingina. Since this float is going to take three to four hours, please bring snacks and water. Close-toed shoes will be required and no personal watercraft will be allowed. Canoes, paddles, PFDs, and the shuttle are included in the $20 per individual fee. Children must be eight years old. Pre-registration is required, (434) 933-8682 at the Livery.
