…May we help you plan your next adventures in May, that is! Have a great time exploring High Bridge Trail State Park in May. Here’s how:
Get brownie points with Mom and treat her to a special Butterfly Program on Mother’s Day weekend.
On Saturday, May 11th at 10:00 a.m. start the adventure at the River Road parking lot. The walk will be over a mile, so bring plenty of water, good walking shoes and your camera with an SD card. We’ll take pictures along the way, and afterwards check them out on an electronic picture frame. The best shots win prizes.

Butterflies Abound at High Bridge!
Perhaps you can make a day of it, enjoying the trail biking or hiking. Take Mom to lunch in Farmville and shopping too!
Or make a night of it. Have you been stargazing lately?
In celebration of Mother’s Day weekend, join the Women of the Night Astronomy program on Saturday, May 11th at 8:45 p.m. at High Bridge. View a sky tour of currently visible constellations, including stories related to goddesses, famous mothers, and other women who have been honored by ancient cultures with places in the heavens.

Brilliant Night Views from High Bridge!
National Kids to Parks Day is on Saturday, May 18th. So, take a Kid to a Park- High Bridge Trail State Park! Kids can take a picture of anything that interests them on High Bridge Trail, submit it and win prizes, such as 4-H scholarships and official High Bridge Trail State Park patches.

Kids Enjoy A Day at the Park!
How about hitting the trail under a full moon? Now that is cool! Enjoy Open trail Night under the full moon on Saturday, May 25th where the Farmville to Rice section of High Bridge Trail will be open until 11:00 p.m.

Full Moon Night on High Bridge Trail!
Explore history on a guided hike led by the park’s Education Specialist highlighting the life and demise of General Thomas Alfred Smyth, the last Union General officer to die in the American Civil War. We’ll meet at the Osborne Road parking lot of High Bridge Trail on Memorial Day Monday, May 27th at 2:00 p.m.
