Making of a Mascot

By Nancy HeltmanPosted April 10, 2014

Many may recall that in December we asked for your help to name our new mascot. The winning name was Ranger Parker Redfox. Since that time, we have been busy working with a mascot design firm to create Parker.

Parker started worked on Monday, March 31. This week he has attended three events in three days so far and Saturday, April 12, 2014 he is heading to the Easter Egg Hunt at Staunton River Battlefield

Parker looks like he is going to have lots of adventures and meet many new people over the next several months.

His public debut was on Monday, April 7, at an Earth Month Event sponsored by Longwood University. Here you can see Ranger Parker with school children from Fuqua School.

Richard Louv, author of Last Child in the Woods and The Nature Principle spoke at the event. I was very jealous that Parker got to meet Richard Louv.
