The cold weather is hopefully behind us, and the smells of campfires and toasting marshmallows fill the air. Boats will be launching, trails will be ready for hikers and ranger-led programs will be offered daily.

When Virginia Mountain Laurel blooms, the summer has officially begun at Westmoreland State Park.

The Mountain Laurel flowers welcome visitors on the drive into the park, while some guests choose to experience the beauty of the flowers first-hand on Laurel Point Trail along the beautiful Rock Spring pond.

Primarily blooming in May-June, these evergreen shrubs produce beautiful white and pink flowers and can tower up to 30 ft tall. These plants are found throughout the east coast from Maine to Florida. Westmoreland boasts a large number of blooms and is an ideal spot for pictures.
