Honoring The Man and The Tradition: Albert Hash
The Albert Hash Memorial Festival is held yearly on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend at Grayson Highlands State Park.
This fun mountain festival is in honor of Albert L. Hash, beloved fiddler and luthier. The festival aims to continue the traditions of music and fellowship that Albert himself helped build in the region during his life.
In 2017, the Albert Hash Memorial Festival will be held on September 2 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

ABOUT ALBERT HASH
He was born in Rugby, Virginia and built his first fiddle by the age of 10. Even after serving in the U.S. Navy, Hash never lost his love for the music of home. He was considered an expert not only playing old time and bluegrass music but also building the instruments used in playing the tunes. Until passing in 1983, Hash attended events throughout the region playing for crowds. His talents were even featured at the 1982 World’s Fair.

During the Albert Has Memorial Festival, visitors will be able to see with their own eyes many of the amazing instruments Albert crafted during his lifetime as well as the work of current luthiers in the area.
The festival also presents a diverse set of music that is sure to get people on their feet. Featured bands include:
Whitetop Mountain Band, Crooked Road Ramblers, Kelley and the Cowboys, Larry Sigmon & Martha Spencer, Wayne Henderson & Friends, Joel Savoy and Jesse Lege Cajun band, Slate Mountain Ramblers, and Luke Bell & Matt Kinman.

But it isn’t just the music there will also be crafts, concessions, dancing and more.
This festival will be held rain or shine, some tent coverage available. Bring a lawn chair with you.
The Albert Hash Memorial Festival aims to keep the event affordable and enjoyable for everyone, so admission to the festival is $10 plus parking ($5 per car for Virginia residents, $7 per car for out of state).
