Hello from Hope and Harmony!

This year I brought a friend with me. Meet my very special friend Harmony Owl whoo loves pink as much as I do. Harmony isn’t just a hard worker she is a hoot to be with. Gnome pun intended.  Last year Leesylvania raised $1607 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc.  PheGNOMEnal! This helps with their mission to save lives by increasing awareness of breast cancer through education and providing mammograms for those in need. I did a little research and found that for one uninsured woman to get a mammogram it costs $100. The hike last year raised enough money for 16 ladies to get the mammograms they needed for early breast cancer detection and prevention.

Come out to Leesylvania State Park for the Second Annual Hike for the Cause

Harmony and I have been preparing the trails for this year’s hikers. We have been picking up trash and sticks, and Harmony even brought her pink HOOver Vacuum. It is always nice to have a friend on the trail with you to talk about how everything should be pink and, of course, the upcoming event. There are amazing things that you find on the trail like birds, flowers, and deer. They make me feel right at home, and like I always say, “Gnome Sweet Gnome”.

After the hike there will be displays on prevention/detection and helping services provided by Sentara Hospital, wonderful pink crafts, and a raffle with different items in pink from local sponsors. If you love pink as much as we do you will love everything about the Hike for the Cause.
