By Amy AtwoodPosted April 02, 2013

My camera and I have already made our reservation and I am getting excited!

New River Trail State Park is again doing spring van tours of the trail, on April 9, 10, 16, and 17, 2013. The tour is a 40 mile tour along the old railroad bed. New River Trail is a Rails-to-Trails park that runs through Pulaski, Wythe, Carroll, Grayson Counties and the City of Galax

Spring is a beautiful time of year at New River Trail
Spring is coming, I promise!!

This program is an opportunity, for people of all ages and fitness levels, to enjoy a large portion of the trail.   Our “tour guide”, Park Interpreter Patrick McFall, is well versed in all aspects of the park.  This particular tour highlights both natural and cultural resources in the park.  With the railroad history, mining history, and the third oldest river in the world, the New River, there will be plenty to see and talk about during the tour.

Biking at New River Trail
New River Trail is a favorite of hikers, bikers, and horseback riders.

We will be departing from Foster Falls by 9:00 a.m. and expect to return by 3:00 p.m.  This is an all day event.  If you want to join me on this tour, make a reservation or call for more information.  Contact the park office at (276) 699-6778 or email Patrick at Patrick.Mcfall@dcr.virginia.gov. The cost is $25.00 per person, this includes a brochure and boxed lunch.  You can bring your own snack if you wish.

The award-winning Virginia State Parks are managed by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation.
