Last fall Virginia State Parks became proud members of the Virginia Campground Association, working as a team in promoting camping in Virginia.  This is the first of a regular series featuring one of our friends in the VCA.

Just a short ride from exit 227 on I-81, I discovered some wonderful folks at a great place to camp, Shenandoah Valley Campground in Verona, Virginia (near Staunton).  The management team of Paula, Dave, Marjorie, Duke and Tina were some of the nicest folks you could meet.  The camp-ground has so much to do for children including, playgrounds, a swimming pool, tubing on the Middle River, trout fishing in their lake, family movie night, special events like hay rides at Halloween, Christmas in May and All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfasts on Sunday mornings.  While the kids are having fun, the adults can enjoy Karaoke on Friday nights or enjoy one of the four hot tubs.

The campground has 150 sites, with full hook ups, tent sites and camping cabins.  They also offer trailer storage on the property.  The friendly campground management team is offering a First Time Campers special of 20% discount for reservations made in 2012.  To find out more on this campground or to make reservations click here.  You may also obtain a the Virginia Campground Directory by clicking here, which lists other camping opportunities in Virginia including Virginia State Parks.

Jamal (November 17, 2016 11:37:05 AM): Virginia is a great place to go rving! There are a bunch of attractions around the state and many campgrounds that are great for the family. Whether you're going thru the state real fast or spending a few weeks there I've noticed that many of the rv parks in virginia are beautiful. https://www.roverpass.com/f/virginia is helpful when looking for the campgrounds in Virginia. The prices for all of these campgrounds usually vary from month to month but the staff is very friendly at most of them and they'll help you out.
