Join us at Sky Meadows on Nov. 9 and 10, 2019, for a forest bathing lecture and experience led by certified forest bathing guide and author of The Joys of Forest Bathing, Melanie Choukas-Bradley. Forest bathing, also known as shinrin-yoku, is the therapeutic practice of full sensory immersion in the beauty and wonder of nature. Rooted in the ancient Japanese reverence for nature, this practice has proven through modern research to decrease stress and anxiety levels and improve overall health.

Forest bathing is done in a slow and mindful way to help you to fully connect through your senses to the beauty of the trees, grass, sky and wildlife. A forest bathing walk includes disconnecting from the distractions of daily life, breathing deeply, enjoying the sights, sounds and feelings of nature, and engaging in other quiet nature connection activities. It is often concluded by sharing experiences, reading poetry or enjoying tea.

On Nov. 9, Melanie will give an introductory presentation where she will share beautiful slides of her forest bathing trip to Japan, explain the practice, share its benefits and more. The following day, on Nov. 10, she will lead a forest bathing walk here in the park so you can experience the joys of forest bathing first hand. Both days will conclude with tea provided by the Paris Apothecary.
