Enjoy a taste of Ireland at our St. Patrick's Day Bash
The groundhog may have seen his shadow but that hasn't stopped the staff and Friends group at the Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park from planning a party to celebrate the arrival of green this spring.
Join us for a night of live music and good food at the museum’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Bash, Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The musical group “Fire in the Kitchen” returns this year to entertain diners as they enjoy home-cooked Irish-themed food and wine from local vintners Mountain Rose Vineyards.
LIVE CELTIC TUNES
“Fire in the Kitchen” is a popular regional trio that specializes in presenting lively Appalachian and Celtic music to its audiences. Teddy Helton, Tammy Martin and Debbie Shrewsbury are natives of southwest Virginia and have been playing together since 2002.
Playing a unique blend of Appalachian and Celtic Music
This is the second time the band Fire in the Kitchen has played at the Bash and we’re looking forward to hosting them again. Be sure to check out their selection of CDs for sale that evening.

WINE TASTING
The Bash will also feature another home-grown favorite, MountainRose Vineyards, located in Wise, Virginia. Located on a reclaimed surface mine, MountainRose has succeeded in restoring the land and pays tribute to its history by naming their signature wines after historic coal seams, including Pardee Red and Blair White.
Try a tasting or purchase a glass to enjoy with your dinner; you can even buy a bottle of wine should you choose to take some home with you.

IRELAND INSPIRED FOOD
One reason people keep coming back to the Bash is the food. Prepared fresh by our Friends group, the buffet menu includes open-faced mini Reuben sandwiches, kale mashed potatoes, oatmeal cakes, and several kinds of dessert, including chocolate Irish crème trifle.
Marking its seventh year, the St. Patrick’s Day Bash at the Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park is on Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., and is a fundraiser put on by the Friends of the SWVA Museum.
