Celebrate Pick Strawberries Day May 20
Imagine the flavors that come alive when you pick-your-own sun ripened strawberries on the very day that is named for it, Pick Strawberries Day.
Just like you, we're super excited that summer is fast approaching, and just as the berries ripen on the vine, our anticipation is growing.
Here is a little background information on the day and ways to celebrate Pick Strawberries Day on May 20. Happy Pick Strawberries Day #PickStrawberriesDay from Virginia State Parks.

PICK YOUR OWN
There is one berry farm that comes to mind for the deepest red, ripest berries and that is found near Westmoreland State Park and it's called Westmoreland Berry Farm.
Pick Strawberries Day encourages you to get out and experience the wonders of picking strawberries first hand, and there are local u-pick strawberry fields that spring up anywhere strawberries are grown, and for that we are very grateful.
They share:
"As the first fruit of the spring, our strawberries are one of the biggest draws for the Westmoreland Berry Farm, impressing more and more visitors each year with their ripe, juicy texture and sweetness. Strawberries are the only fruit with the seeds on the outside, numbering as many as 200 seeds per berry! When Picking Your Own, it’s important to select strawberries that are entirely red, as these will be the most ripe (and most tasty!) The type of strawberry will also impact its taste, as will the weather during their cultivation. Want to see how this season’s crop of strawberries is turning out?"
