Camping Season Begins at Virginia State Parks
Our four developed campgrounds and all of our primitive campsites are open year-round, but many Virginia State Parks camping enthusiasts look forward to the start of the camping season on March 4 (this year).

All of the sites in all of our developed campgrounds are available for site-specific reservations.
Over 1,800 campsites are available at 29 state parks throughout the state (see camping rates). Site sizes, configurations and amenities vary. Some parks provide sites with electric and water hookups, which tend to be larger to accommodate recreational vehicles and campers.

Each park's camping section of their website features a chart of the sites for reservations with details like driveway length, shade, hookups, and tent pad information. There is also a link to photos of the sites and, in some cases, campground maps.
