Shared by Max Forrest, as Guest Blogger.
We have something new at Powhatan State Park, and kids we like you are going to like it. Powhatan State Park has made a recent change to its Junior Ranger program, it will no longer be held on a certain day of the week during the summer months.
The program will now be held all year round, and there is no charge for this activity.
Let's go explore all the things we can at Powhatan State Park
The park has designed a new Junior Ranger Activity Booklet that you can use to explore on your own throughout the year thanks to a new design of the booklet.
Stop by the Contact Station or Park Office to pick up your Junior Ranger Booklet
CHILDREN CAN EARN THEIR VERY OWN BADGE
Anyone from the area, camping or just visiting the park for the day can now become an honorary park ranger by completing the park's interactive Junior Ranger Activity Booklet. Complete as many of the tasks as you can and you can become awarded a Junior Ranger badge and certificate.
The Junior Ranger Badge is awarded to each participant
After they finish their booklet and show a ranger their work
Attending programs, knowing all about the park, and knowledge about local wildlife are parts of the activities in the booklet. The book can take a day to complete, but is recommended to be done numerous visits to enjoy all of the things the park has to offer and is suitable for all ages. We encourage parents to help assist young aspiring rangers with the activities in the booklet.
Here is a glimpse into the book and the activities that the park has to offer
PARK RANGERS WEAR MANY DIFFERENT HATS, SO YOU SHOULD TOO
The most important thing you should know before starting the activity booklet is that park rangers wear many hats aside from the green, wide brim hat. A park ranger should be a knowledgeable, hardworking, polite, and friendly person. Becoming a Junior Ranger means you will strive to achieve these characteristics in the park, in your household, and in your community.
