Bald Eagle Set To Be Released at Belle Isle State Park

Belle Isle State Park is hosting the Wildlife Center of Virginia for the release of Bald Eagle #14-0380.  Found with an open wound and fractured wings, the eagle has been recovering at the Wildlife Center for about eight weeks.  After removal of stitches and casts as well as several test flights, he is ready to soar over the tree tops and start life anew on the shores of the Rappahannock river.

The eagle is now ready to spread his wings and soar over the tree tops.

A short educational program about bald eagles will precede the release.  The habitat around Belle Isle State Park is perfect for bald eagles.  The Rappahannock river and its tributaries provide ample fishing and nesting grounds for both eagles and osprey.
