Bald Eagle Release at Belle Isle State Park
On a beautiful crisp October morning more than 100 people gathered at Belle Isle State Park to view the release of a female Bald Eagle by the Wildlife Center of Virginia.
Another Bald Eagle was released this week by Wildlife Center of Virginia
A Northumberland County Animal Control Officer found the hatch-year female Bald Eagle lying on the ground in June. Right away she was taken to a local wildlife rehabilitator for immediate care and later transported to the Wildlife Center where she was diagnosed as having “damage to multiple feather shafts on each of its wings.”

Bald Eagle #15-1312, as she is known today, spent months recuperating at the Center until veterinary staff okayed her for release. She was released at the park on Thursday, October 22, 2015. Bald Eagle #15-1312 soars into the clear blue skies above Belle Isle State Park
This was the second Bald Eagle release in a Virginia State Park during the month of October. Bald Eagle #15-1261 was released on October 16, 2015 at Smith Mountain Lake State Park.
