Many parks offer fishing programs like Hungry Mother State Park. Also, there is no fishing license required if you are under 16, so it's a great chance to learn something new. The 108-acre Hungry Mother Lake within the park supports a host of sport fish, including largemouth, smallmouth, hybrid striped and spotted bass, as well as crappie, channel and flathead catfish, carp, sunfish, rock bass, muskellunge and walleye.

There are fishing programs at many of our parks. Click here to find one.

Boat rentals are available daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day at Fairy Stone State Park.  Boat rentals may be unavailable because of inclement weather and other unforeseen circumstances. Be sure to call ahead if this is the sole reason for your visit. Rowboats, paddleboats, stand-up paddleboards, kayaks and canoes may be rented during the summer season.

Paddleboats are just $15 an hour, and after an hour of peddling them around the little Fairy Stone lake, you'll probably be ready for a swim. Rates and fees for all park equipment rentals can be found here.
