Love Story: Generation To Generation
Posted March 03, 2014
I was raised in Alleghany County not far from Douthat State Park. My parents rented a cabin there for two summers. My Mother, brothers, sister and I went hiking and to the beach and when got back we would grill with our parents at the cabin. During our stay family and friends would stop by to see us. After I got married, my husband and I would go there to camp in tents!! Then after our son was born we would take him camping there again in tents, and our pop-up camper. As our son got older we starting renting the cabins at Douthat State Park. We always let him bring a friend. I can honestly say that we have rented just about all the cabins at Douthat!!

My biggest joy was the year of 2007 when our son graduated from high school. "He" asked us to rent out the "Lodge" at Douthat to have all our family, friends, and the youth at our church to join us!! What a great week to see everyone having a great time enjoying the outdoors with all the hiking, fishing, paddle boating, beach area, and riding bikes. At night we would gather to eat, play "Uno" and have bible study together!! It was great to have everyone stop by to see us or stay with us and have plenty of room at the Creasy Lodge!! My husband and I loved it because our son was loving what we love!! We also rented Creasy Lodge for our family Christmas get together!!!
It is so great that God created nature for us to enjoy and we are so blessed because we sure love it at Douthat State Park. We pick Douthat because it is where we can gather with our family and friends from that area. Never a dull moment at Virginia State Parks.
I love that I have been a little girl, a wife, a mother and one day as a grandmother at Douthat State Park!!
I love Virginia State Parks for keeping families together---generation to generation!!!
