We had never stayed in a State Park cabin until last year during our children's spring break.  We chose Westmoreland State Park because of our love of rocky beaches.

Well we fell in love with it! We really needed this getaway. With our busy work and school schedules, we don't get to take many vacations, so this was a real treat for us, our children, and even our dog!

Flying a kite at Westmoreland State Park

We stayed in cabin 14, and were pleasantly surprised at how cozy, yet well equipped it was, with many of the amenities of a hotel, but with a kitchen, a porch, fireplace, rocking chairs, and a grill!  We really had no idea!

As a family, we had a chance to reconnect and spend time together with no agendas or demanding schedules. The trails and the beaches were amazing. We biked and walked and flew kites. We visited Fossil Beach and came home with a couple of nice fossils. We had nice meals together and played board games by the fireplace. We laughed together and talked and no one was plugged into any electronics!

And the view from the cliffs!  Well there's something to fall in love with.

We're still busy as bees at home with work and school, but we would love to take every opportunity we can to visit more state parks..to explore what they have to offer and to be able to get away, get unplugged, and get recharged with the people we love.
