Clean Virginia Waterways

park locationWhere

York River State Park, 9801 York River Park Rd., Williamsburg, VA 23188. Visitor Center.

When

September 25, 2021. 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Tasks: Plastics (bottles and bags), aluminum and cigarette butts are three main contributors to the trash in our waterways. Fishing debris, old crab pots and broken dock and pier construction are also found washed ashore. As part of Clean Virginia Waterways, volunteers will be helping clean up three beach areas of litter and debris along the park's 4.5 mile shoreline. Participants will not only better the park's shores for guests to enjoy, but will also help the Chesapeake Bay Watershed ecosystem stay healthy and thrive to be litter free! Join thousands of volunteers statewide who gather along the shorelines of Virginia's rivers, lakes, bays, and beaches (and inland too!) to clean up litter and debris, and recycle found items.

What to Bring/Wear: clothes appropriate for the weather, closed toe shoes, hat, sunscreen and insect repellent, water bottle, personal work gloves if desired.
